OH how I wish I was around in 1949 so I wouldn’t have include losing weight to my permanent list of New Year’s Resolutions (incl. stop chewing nails, put things away as soon as I use them and not let flat turn into gorgeous mess, update blog more often etc etc).
I love these ads circa 1930 – 1960 – a time when weight gain was as desirable as weight loss is today, fat wasn’t a villainous food group and ‘lite’ versions of indulgent delights like cheese and cake were non-existant.
This article on from the DailyMail.co.uk (where I sourced these images) has inspired me to take dietary cues from back in the day; when meals consisted of meat and in season veg, and food additives were (almost) non existent.
So stuff dropping 10kg, this year, I’m subscribing to the theory that healthy and fit is best – and that goes for whatever size you’re meant to be, whether that’s rail thin or on the bigger boned 12-14 side (that’s me!)
Happy belated New Year 😉
